Desert Rose Selenite aka Gypsum Rose/Sand Rose

Desert Rose Selenite aka Gypsum Rose/Sand Rose

£2.50Price

Desert Rose Selenite, also known as Gypsum Rose or Sand Rose, is a type of Selenite formed from a combination of water, wind, and sand. Sand becomes embedded in Selenite blades, while additions of water overtime help form the signature “rosette” formation. Most specimens on the market have been brushed lightly with a torch to help define these rose petal shapes, though it does not affect the energy of these stones. These tend to be formed over a couple of hundred years, rather than like a majority of crystals and minerals which have formed millions, and sometimes billions of years ago. Desert Rose Selenite is commonly found in most deserts around the world in countries such as Mexico, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Tunisia, and Afghanistan.

  • Selenite is a delicate stone that should be handled with care. When not wearing selenite jewelry, store it away from other stones and materials in a soft fabric bag to prevent scratching. To clean selenite, simply use a soft cloth free of impregnations. Selenite is water soluble, so it's recommended to avoid submersing or rinsing your stone in water. For this same reason, it is suggested to not use cleaners or polishes. Remove selenite jewelry before participating in sports or other activities that can cause perspiration. Keep selenite out of direct prolonged sunlight, as this exposure can cause loss of luster.
