Apricot Agate

Apricot Agate

£1.50Price

Agate is a variety of microcrystalline quartz that displays translucence and in some cases banding. Agate primarily forms when silica-rich fluids fill pockets within rock and/or fossils, resulting in deposition of the silica along the walls of the rock. This process can result in banding patterns as the composition and impurities of the fluids change over time. These banding patterns can either form as flat layers, or rounded layers depending on the surfaces available for deposition.

Apricot Agate is an interesting gemstone that is often made by heating grey agate stones. Natural stones are much rarer and harder to find. It is a variety of chalcedony, which is a variety of Quartz crystal.

  • Country of Origin: Botswana.
  • Dimensions: 15mm to 20mm x 10mm (may vary)
  • Weight: 3g to 8g.
  • Price are per/stone.
  • Agates tend to be hardy stones, making it a cinch to clean these gems. The best method is to rinse agates in warm soapy water and use a soft brush to remove any extra dust or debris. Due to the soft color, some people assume blue lace agate is less hardy than other agates, but don't let the color fool you. It's still not the best idea to use harsh cleaners though, especially if your agate has been enhanced through any dyeing techniques.
